Committed to our Community
Since its beginning in 1989, the focus of the CARE Foundation has always been, and will continue to be, raising funds to enhance the educational experience of students attending public schools within the Capistrano Unified School District. That is our sole focus.
We are non-political. We have an all volunteer Board of Directors. We are not hampered by restrictive bureaucratic red tape. Donors can earmark their donations to pretty much any student activity and they receive a 501c3 tax deduction.
We are not affiliated with or associated with the District and no one should think we are. The Foundation works to accomplish its mission by raising funds (either directly or through applying for and winning grants), partnering with for-profit and non-profit corporations to provide hard dollars, supplies, programs or other opportunities for students within the District. These monies also provide funding for field trips, scholarships, special supplies that teachers request, academic competitions and programs, and teacher trainings and appreciation ceremonies.
For instance, late last year the Foundation was able to secure an anonymous $28,000 private donation designated for the benefit of students at San Clemente High School. Also, one of the Foundation’s crowning achievements was stepping in to rapidly raise approximately $1.4 million to prevent the lay-offs of numerous teachers.
These efforts, along with many others demonstrate the Foundation’s unshakable commitment to students — nothing more, nothing less. The Foundation has never wavered from its obligation to the children attending public schools in the Capistrano Unified School District.
